Last couple of weeks in Spain as this winter project comes to a close.
Mom in town. Visiting Frigiliana, Alhambra, Ronda.
TET trails, Gorafe desert, Almeria mountains, El Saltillo hike.
Crocodile farm, Sea Life Benalmádena, a night in Malaga, Rio Verde hike and a motorcycle date in Granada.
TET trails, beach time in Nerja, Rio Chillar hike.
A week and a half spent alone with my dog while family on a work/school trip in Latvia. Some river hikes, some beach hikes, some TET trails in the nearby mountains and around Gibraltar and betweet it all - lots of rain (finally!).
A short (half) week this time, because going to Portugal on a moto adventure. Saying the last goodbyes to our mountain village and moving closer to sea to spend the rest of our winter in Nerja, hopefully a much warmer one than in the mountains.
Last week in Comares (moving to Nerja after this). Finally receiving my bike and going for a spin with it on local twisties and a taste of TransEuroTrail. Hiking and scrambling in Hondoneros and finally trying out the via ferratas of Comares and its’ 436m long zipline - the longest in Spain.
A week spent relentlessly searching for the next accommodation, but still finding time to go for short walks around our village and capture its details. The winter is rolling in with the first rains and fierce winds hence our search moving to lower elevations and closer to the sea, looking at Nerja as one of the options. No big hikes this week, but celebrating Latvian Independence day with friends and first time visiting Malaga (won't be visiting it much though - big cities and crowds are not for us).
As much as we would like to travel and explore all the time, we’re here not on a vacation - hence the working week is spent mostly by computers with only short trips outside, preferably during the sunsets when the light is amazing.
Meeting friends on Saturday and on Sunday - visiting Antequera town with its 11th-century Alcazaba fortification and a hike in the impressive El Torcal de Antequera limestone karst landscape.
Our 1st week in Spain. For the 1st month staying in an airbnb in a picturesque mountain village Comares, getting to know the surroundings and slowly looking for a place to stay for the rest of the winter.
Two hikes on the weekend - a loop in the Montes de Málaga Natural Park on Saturday and a climb up to La Maroma, the highest peak (2069m) of the Sierra de Tejeda, on Sunday.
